Yep, We're all excited: Another opportunity to go broke (er- I mean to acquire yet another I-gotta-have-it radio!). There are already several car loads of us heading that way Saturday morning (the 16th); we'll be leaving Meridian at about 5 o'clock. If you want to join the caravan, be at Common Cents Computers (2412 C Street) at 5 o'clock and be ready to roll! Sellers tables are going to be $12 per table per day again this year, Don Kresge is taking reservations now.

If you didn't make it last year, this show is a whopper! We had somewhere between 500 & 1000 buyers/gawkers/gee-whizzers wander by our table last year - and we were amazed at the amount of stuff (no other way to describe the variety of junk-to-treasure) that was for sale - most at remarkable prices!!!!

For those of you not familiar with Birmingham, the Birmingham / Jefferson Civic Center is located just off interstate 20/59 at the corner of 9th Ave. and 21st Street. The best way to get there from this direction is to take 20/59 from here all the way to 23rd street; cross under the interstate on 23rd, and go back 2 blocks to the Civic Center. Unload at the big doors on the SouthEast corner of the Exhibition Hall. The best parking is usually in the parking lot under the interstate.

BE SURE AND HAVE 3 - 4 DOLLARS WORTH OF QUARTERS TO FEED THE PARKING METERS!!!

The Rest of the News:
Our own show February 29th, 1992 was a mixed bag. The quality and size of the exhibits were excellent: The Alabama Historical Radio Society displayed some truly spectacular sets! We thank them for their help and support! Don Kresge and Dave Cisco both busted their tails in moving a mountain of interesting and beautiful sets! Thanks Guys! On the other hand, the attendance by the public was a bit disappointing. Many, MANY people say they never heard about it until after the fact. The reaction following the small report on WTOK's Saturday Night News that evening generated several dozen calls. Most people commented later that they would have come had they known about show!!!! Even with the light turn-out, our membership is up considerably! We were successful in reaching some people, and many we reached have been very interested. Also on the plus side, the show itself broke even financially. T-shirt sales were so-so; (they are now paid for - the remaining sales proceeds go into the general fund!). Hopefully they will sell well in Birmingham. The Five for Three program is still on going. This fund raiser has helped us past a real rough spot, but we want to be sure all members (and prospective members) have a chance to take advantage of the offer: Pay $30.00 now (before the end of May) and receive a full five year membership! This saves you $20.00! and adds on to any time you already have. But again, this offer only good through May 31st.

New books of note:
His Master's Voice in America
by Fred Barnum
This is a strange book - funded by GE, it's RCA's "life" story. Strange - written and published all in 6 months - 8x11 - 388 pages - 700+ photos - this book tells more about RCA than anything RCA ever published about itself. This is a limited edition book (may not be available long) priced at $36 + tax. Write to:

Radio Manufacturers of the 1920's - Volume 3
RCA to Zenith
by Alan Douglas
The third (and last) volume of Alan Douglas' exhaustive work on the subject is finally shipping. By most reviews this set is well worth purchasing! 285 Pages - $39.95 hardcover - $29.95 soft-cover.

It has been suggested that the club issue membership cards. This has been approved by the executive committee, and they will be sent to each member soon.

Until Next Time: Peace to us all!
